ARTIST'S
STATEMENT
My landscape
paintings combine natural elements with such stylistic influences as oriental
miniatures, 19th Century romanticism and botanical illustration to evoke
a contemplative, otherworldly feeling. I draw inspiration from imagination
and memory of place more than from nature itself. My purpose has always
been to make paintings that communicate in a personal and direct way.
My work has been exhibited in New York, Washington, D.C., and Dallas, as well as such museums as
the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the Aldrich Museum of Contemporary
Art and the Butler Institute of American Art. It is included in corporate
collections such as Exxon Mobil and AT&T and numerous private collections.
